2-Digit Subtraction with Regrouping Practice
Regrouping (we used to call it 'borrowing') is where subtraction gets tricky for 7 and 8 year olds. The big aha is that you can pull a ten from the tens place to make the ones place big enough to subtract — and these problems are filtered to require regrouping every single time, so there's no skating by on easy ones. If your child crosses out and rewrites instead of just doing it in their head, that's perfect; the visual scratch work is exactly the strategy teachers want them to build. Most second graders need about a month of daily practice before this becomes automatic.
