How to print at true size

Choose the paper size that matches the PDF: US Letter (8.5 × 11 in) or A4 (210 × 297 mm).
Set the scale to 100% or "Actual size". "Fit to page" or "Shrink to fit" makes the squares a little smaller.
Check one square with a ruler. The grid stays at least 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) from every edge of the paper.
